Theme:

Australians know much more about the US and China than they do about Brazil, yet Brazil is almost as geographically large as the US and has a population 9 times the size of Australia. Its economy is the fifth largest in the world. In Europe they refer to the BRIC countries - the emerging economic giants. B comes first, and it stands for Brazil. Australians need to pay much more attention.

Economy:

Brazil is strong in both primary and secondary industries. Not sure about tertiary. It is a competitor to Australia in sugar cane, and has a thriving government subsidised bio-fuels program.
